Nye-Kote™, Electro-Coating's exclusive electroless nickel coating, combats abrasion with exceptional hardness, precise consistency and long term lubricity.
The phosphorous content of Nye-Kote provides a naturally smooth friction fighting surface that minimizes heat buildup to reduce scoring and galling. The hardness and highly consistent thickness of a Nye-Kote component creates an extraordinarily smooth finish, minimizing "hot spots" where abrasion can take hold.
In the bargain, component manufacturers enjoy a set of Nye-Kote side benefits:
- High uniformity in coating thickness. Because the coating is transferred to the substrate by chemical reaction rather than an electrical charge (as in electroplating), equal coating density is achieved without respect to the geometry of the object being coated. Wear surfaces stay consistently flat. Recesses and blind holes are uniformly coated. Thru-holes and bores remain straight and untapered in virtually any geometric configuration.
- The high level of phosphorous in a Nye-Kote coating makes it very resistant to corrosion. Chemical content of the coating may be adjusted to deliver the level of corrosion resistance desired by an end user.
